Makena Metz is a Writer & Songwriter for the Page, Screen, and Stage. She is a musical wildcard who writes songs for animation, musical theatre, and sync. Makena is a proud member of The Dramatist Guild, ASCAP, Women in Animation, Maestra Music, the Alliance for Women Film Composers, the Songwriters of North America, and the Society of Composers & Lyricists.
This year Makena was selected for the SCL’s LA mentorship program led by composer Cindy O'Connor. Last year, she participated in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriting Intensive and the Paramount/MTV Entertainment Group First Time Composers Program. Her songs have been featured on the Emmy winning Disney+ show Hamster & Gretel and are upcoming in Disney Jr.'s Mickey Mouse Funhouse. Her musicals have been produced regionally and nationally. Also, her musical comedy EP Songs for My Therapist is comes out this summer.
Makena is an alum of Sam Carner’s Musical Creators Institute Program and New Musical Inc’s CORE Curriculum for Musical Theatre Writing. Find her work @ makenametz on social media, and check out makenametz.com
